Ahmedabad: The three- day property festival organized by Gujarat Institute of Housing and Estate Developers (GIHED) will be this year witnessing the rush of affordable housing projects. According to the officials, around 250 properties will be showcased in the property show, out of which 50% of the projects would belong to affordable category.The chairman of the exhibition’s organizing committee said that they expect about 150 odd projects under affordable segment to be displayed in the show that would be priced between Rs. 12 lakh to Rs. 40 lakh. Buyers who are looking out for affordable housing will be benefited by this property show. According to the sources, the size of these housing units would range between 50, 60 and 80 sq. mt. areasThe officials further added that this would be second year in which the show focuses on affordable housing segment. Till 2011, the major share of the property show was occupied by residential units belonging to high income group. However, this year, Ahmedabad witnesses an upsurge of affordable housing segment.Last year, the property show saw presence of only 48 developers and 145 projects whereas this year the show is expecting presence of almost 70 real estate developers with display of around 250 projects.The exhibition will showcase residential, commercial and plotting projects. The show will majorly showcase residential projects and only 10% of the projects will be commercial. The projects which were constructed but not sold out last year will also be put on display.The three-day property show, started on Friday will also comprise of a seminar on green buildings, organized by GIHED in association with Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
