GMADA is Developing 15,000 acre Luxurious Township

new-chandigarhMohali: Punjab Government has planned a township which will be spread across 15,000 acres of land in Mohali district. The township is not yet completed the construction, but it is promising higher future prospects for the luxurious living in Chandigarh. The township is named as New Chandigarh and will be majorly developed by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA).Out of the total allotted land, 5500 acre will be allotted for residential and commercial developments, 1700 acre for the “EduCity” comprising colleges and institutes and remaining land will be allotted for recreational and social infrastructures of the township. The authority declared that it has also allotted 44 acres of land to the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for the new cricket stadium.Land allotted for commercial and residential developments will include two mega townships developed by GMADA, named as MediCity and EcoCity. The commercial zone will also include an IT Park. Overall development of the township will be done under the GMADA in coordination with private developers like Omaxe and DLF.DLF is developing an integrated mixed use project over 1200 acres of land and Omaxe Ltd is developing a luxury township spread over 800 acres of land. Other than these big scale developments, Grater Punjab Corporation society will also develop 70 acres of housing project. Few other developers who have projects in new Chandigarh include Altus Group and PBR infra. The Projects will come online in a period of next two to three years.The Punjab Government has also planned a metro rail project which will connect Mullanpur Garibdass (New Chandigarh) and will be developed by the end of 2018.
