This museum is known as Monetary Museum and it is founded and managed by Reserve Bank of India in order to protect and preserve the rich history of currency of our country. The Monetary Museum is situated at the Ground floor of Amar Building opposite to Apna Bazaar on Sir Pherozesha Mehta Marg in Fort Area in Mumbai. The museum is also known as Reserve Bank of India Monetary Museum.If you are curious to know about the evolution of currency or a finance student, there is no better place for you to go than this museum. It will solve all your queries related to currency. Though the museum is very small but it is very well presented and contains loads of information to satisfy all your questions connected to monetary system from ancient period till today. The museum takes you on to an enthralling journey of Indian coinage to modern monetary system. It exhibits the first coins of 600 BC till the paper money of today. The impact of Indo-European system on the money is also seen through the display of currency here. Currency used by Tipu Sultan, 8mm diameter coin known as Fanam, rare old coins and the tiniest coin of world are also on display here.
