The capital city of India, Delhi boasts some greatest architectural marvels right from the Mughal period. The city is filled with historic as well as modern landmark structures. Delhi witnesses emergence of new and unique projects that are adding more stars to the skyline of the city. One such iconic project that is getting ready to become Delhi’s future symbol is Signature Bridge. This bridge will be built over the Yamuna River. The bridge is still under-construction and is projected to get completed till September, 2014. Signature Bridge will be 150 meters height which is twice the size of remarkable monument, Qutub-Minar.Design of Signature Bridge:The construction of the bridge already started in 2008. The western approach of the flyover is already set while the eastern approach is also said to be completed recently. Parts of the bridge will be imported from China. An expert team visited several steel companies in China to finalize the best steel for the construction of the bridge. The shape of the structure will be similar to boomerang or a bow. The contractors of the project, Gammon India decided to fabricate the bridge in China. The contractors are in a joint venture with a Brazilian and an Italian company. The bridge is designed by Germans and most of the parts are sourced from Italy. Array of designs were presented but finally the Delhi government and the Delhi Arts Commission selected the design proposed by a German firm. The unsymmetrical tower of the bridge with the glass façade is cable-supported on both the sides. The upper portion of the pylon fixes the back-stay cables and the main-span cables which is arranged in the harp like manner. The steel and glass combination bridge will look spectacular when illuminated at night. You can reach the top of the bridge from where you can view the entire city.Additional features:

- The eight-lane bridge will be having special cycle lanes for the convenience of the commuters. Each lane will be 14 meters wide and would be separated by concrete crash barriers

- The project also offers restaurants, tree-lined pathways and walkways that would be developed on one km stretch adjoining the bridge in Wazirabad area, East Delhi

- People can reach the top of the structure with the help of the four high speed lifts that will be installed as per the design. It would be passenger cum service lifts
Purpose of the bridge:600 meters, coming up downstream from the Wazirabad, Signature Bridge will connect Khajuri Khas intersection on the east bank of Yamuna to Outer Ring Road on the west bank. The bridge will provide better connectivity with northeast Delhi.
