Thiruvananthapuram: The government has given the approval to the Public Works Department (PWD) for the development of the Neyyar River bridge. The proposed bridge over Neyyar River will unite two neighborhoods of Keezharoor and Aryancode. The bridge will be constructed at Keezharoorkadavu across the Neyyar River which got the sanction from the government.The detailed project report has been submitted by the PWD to the state which includes construction of 15 roads and two bridges including Keezharoorkadavu Bridge. Complete infrastructure projects will be developed with financial assistance of Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) from National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).All projects were given administrative sanctions on August 27, 2013 by the Trivandrum state government. The 12.75 crore fund is allotted for Keezharoorkadavu Bridge along with 8 crore fund for the revamp of Kattuouthussery-Kaithode road. RIDF has given PWD Rs 10 crore for the construction of KeezharoorkadavuBridge while remaining expenses will be covered by the state government.The PWD officials explained that the bridge will be developed with three spans of 19.32 meters length and width of 11.05 meters. The bridge will reduce the traveling time between Keezharoor and Aryancode regions.The overall development project has been allotted Rs 96 crore under RIDF and State Government will also sanction an additional Rs. 123 crore for the these development projectsEarlier, citizens had to travel through a long route to reach places around the Karakoram Medical College.
