The deadline for revising the property tax in Gurgaon has already been past but still no action has taken place. The tax revision scheme has been prepared by the Special Committee which is formed by the state government. The officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) said that the authorities have still not presented any updates on this matter.According to the Senior MCG official, they have not received any directions from the head office. It was said that in the first week of August, the property tax calculation results will be out and now it’s already been 2 weeks but there are no updates.After years of protestations and complaints filed by the residents of Gurgaon regarding the simplification of calculation of the municipal tax on land of Gurgaon and other areas, a couple of months ago, the authorities finally agreed to revise the property tax. The authorities handed over the case to a three member committee which was formed by Gurgaon’s public work (buildings and roads) minister. The team was allocated the task of surveying the different areas, communicating with the dwellers and at last modifying the tax calculation matrix for the ease of the tax payers.The joint commissioner of MCG said that the government has still not replied anything regarding this issue. She further added that a part of revision has been done but the state’s approval is pending.
