Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad revenue department observed that about 2 lakh properties have not registered with the civic body. These unregistered properties are causing deficit of about Rs 150 crore to revenue department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).Municipal Corporation of Pimpri Chinchwad conducted a survey through waste pickers which concluded that about 5.12 lakh properties are present in municipality jurisdiction. According to the survey, it is definite that numbers of properties has increased in the past few years and relevant steps need to be taken to register such properties to improve property tax revenues.Currently, about 3.65 lakh properties are registered with civic authority of PCMC through which revenue department acquires about Rs 300 crore every year, which can be increased to about Rs 450 crore if unregistered properties gets registered with civic authority.PCMC is taking required measures to improve the property tax revenue. The civic body will conduct a survey of all the available properties in the municipality jurisdiction. If they found property which is unregistered with civic property tax departments, it will be registered with the department. Survey is supposed to start in the coming September which will take around two to three months to complete.Municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi said that additional revenue from these unregistered properties would act as an aid to the municipal corporation.
