Pune: For the first time in the country, the Department of Stamps and Registration, Government of Maharashtra has launched e-SBTR (Electronic Secured Bank and Treasury receipt): An innovative concept that will simplify the process of stamp duty and registration fee payment by facilitating the citizens to pay it together online or at the bank counters. It is expected that this technology will successfully replace the existing method which is often surrounded with hassles and unease the citizens. In the existing system, different queues are made for the payment of stamp duty at vendor sites and registration fees at banks for obtaining the demand draft. For the DD, a citizen has to pay extra price to make the draft. The payment can be done only during office hours with tough work because of the crowd. The primary weakness of existing system is its rigid structure that doesn’t allow people to pay the stamp duty and registration fees together. The overall process is tedious and exasperating. As the e-SBTR is launched, citizens can just pay everything at once via online route. Few of the major clauses of this system are:
- Stamp Duty and Registration fee can be paid together. However the cost of stamp duty must be Rs 5000 or more for obtaining e-SBTR.
- You can pay online or at bank counters. The e-SBTR can be collected at authorized banks.
- The method is easy, safe and quick.
- In case of refund, the maximum deduction will be of only Rs 1000.
