In GreenCo Summit 2013, Ex-President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has supported green building initiatives coupled with sustainable design and green architecture to make certain that the impact of construction and infrastructure development on environment remains controlled. With that, Kalam also advocated to make green energy cost effective by continuous research by electronic goods manufacturers, recyclers and other user groups.Kalam has also said that new technologies have been proved helpful in creating greener structures and our primary objective should always be focused in reducing the ill effects of development over human health and environment. He added that, by improving productivity, reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation, we can effectively aid our green initiatives.Few of the suggestions he gave in the summit are:
- Industries like cement, aluminium, steel and textile should improve energy utilization.
- Creation of an idea bank where employees can provide solutions for energy efficiency.
- Installation of nano lamps, energy efficient heating and AC systems.
- LED lamps in rural houses.
- Yearly target of saving 25 billion units of power.
