Chandigarh: The government of Punjab is planning to provide affordable homes to the citizens of this state. Therefore the government has framed policy for mega housing projects. An official representative of the town and country planning department announced yesterday.According to the official, the policy will consist of provisions like the 20 percent of the total land area will be allocated to the group housing project. This would be the maximum area permitted for the project where it is proposed as part of plotted development. This condition is not pertinent for the projects that are part of mixed land use zone of the master plan.According to the official, if more than 20 percent of land area of the project falls under the mix land use zone then the developer or the promoter cannot use the complete land area which comes under the mix land use zone for constructing group housing projects. While on the other hand, if the promoter put forward the view of utilizing more than 20 percent of the land area for developing the group housing project then the total area will be reckoned as the saleable area of the project, the official further added.The area which is covered by the group housing project will be measured as a part of the total area of the project for execution of all the area norms. More than one section will be allowed for the area under group housing project in mixed development venture.
