New Delhi: Indian real estate has got a new minister. Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Ms. Girija Vyas will take over from her predecessor Mr. Ajay Maken and realtors’ apex body CREDAI Chairman Lalit Jain expressed hopes that she will continue the efforts towards the bringing about of real estate reforms.Mr. Jain is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Mumbai-Pune realtor Kumar Urban development Limited. He appreciated the efforts of Mr. Maken and praising him said that Mr. Maken succeeded in understanding the concerns of the housing sector. Mr. Jain credited Mr. Maken for agreeing to the CREDAI suggestion to better the status of real estate infrastructure in India and to facilitate the speedy progress to bring the government’s mission – Housing for all- from imagination to reality.Welcoming Ms. Girija Vyas as the new HUPA Minister in the Union Cabinet Mr. Jain said, “We are confident that the new minister Ms.Vyas will continue to pursue the various issues like affordable housing with the concerned departments.”For long CREDAI has been involved with real estate reforms and has taken up a mission to make the government accord the status of infrastructure to the real estate sector. CREDAI also wants the government to introduce a four-fold reform that will involve land, banking, administration and labor – so that India can materialize its dream of being a housing surplus nation.The rising cost of housing is a major concern for CREDAI. CREDAI has also been for long suggesting a single window system for all clearances and approvals instead of several departments being involved in the process. A single window will facilitate the speedy execution of projects.
