Pune: The residents of Chikhali are struggling with the demolition drive going on in the areas that come under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). It has been found that the officials of property tax department have wrongly assessed the unauthorized building which is irritating the citizens. PCMC has decided to take action against these officials.There is a mismatch in the dates on which the buildings have been constructed and the dates that is recorded by the officials. The residents are opposing the anti-encroachment squad’s drive that appeared in Jadhavwadi, Chikhali to demolish the ground floor of few buildings to prepare parking space.The order has been given to act against buildings that have been constructed after March 31, 2012 but many buildings are dated before than that. Thus the officials were expecting the directives from the civic body. In opposition to the residents and builders, officials have said that the notice had been sent before at the time of construction but it has been continued and no action has been taken, thus it is necessary to act against these buildings.Several buildings in Pune have expanded their boundaries and have no sufficient side margins. These can be categorized in encroachment and necessary steps will be taken by the civic body.
