Residential prices rise marginally in 20 cities

residexNew Delhi: In face of a situation where real estate experts are speculating a correction in real estate prices all over the country, housing prices increased by 1.1% in 20 of the major cities in India. This is increase is as compared to the first quarter of 2013 according to RESIDEX, a survey carried out by the  National Housing Bank.Residential housing prices have also increased as compared to the last quarter of 2012, that is, October to December 2012. But this has happened only in 12 cities. 8 cities have shown a decline in residential house prices. These cities include Guwahati where prices fell by 7.84%, Ludhiana by 6.71% and Surat by 6.67%. Prices have also corrected in Kolkata by 5.75%, Chennai by 1.28%, Hyderabad by 2.23% and in Lucknow by 3.18%.”Property prices in majority of the cities are witnessing marginal upward trend,” NHB officials stated.Though far from sky rocketing, prices are still on the rise in the cities of Delhi (3.59%), Mumbai (2.31%), Pune (7.81%), Jaipur (28.74%), Bhubaneswar (14.54%), Bhopal (6.49%), Bangalore (2.83%), Kochi (2.30%) and Faridabad (0.98%).National Housing Bank conducts RESIDEX which is a survey to keep track of prices of residential houses since 2007.
