Ahmedabad: Mahindra Group had signed a
deal with the state government of Gujarat in the Vibrant Gujarat summit 2011 which proposed a development of Mahindra World City (MWC) project which is set to be developed in an integrated business city, Dholera.Mahindra Lifespaces Developer Ltd (MLDL) part of the Mahindra Group will be in charge of the project which had recently approached government of Gujarat insisting on taking up the plan of the project. The signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) states that the MWC would be developed over 3000 acres of land at Dholera with the investment of Rs 2,000 crore.A government official said that MLDL is keen to start the MWC and approached the government in regards of the land allotment. Government officials of state government division are invited to visit at MWC chennai to check the how the infrastructure and development of the new project would shape up.Elaborating on their intentions Anita Arjundas, managing director and CEO of Mahindra Lifespaces Developers Ltd said that the group had signed a MoU regarding MWC three years back which is set to be developed in Dholera special investment region and we are waiting for the land approval.The company is currently operating two MWCs one in Rajasthan and the other in Tamil Nadu which together increase exports by 39 per cent in FY13. It is predicted that the Gujarat MWC will create over 100,000 employments with around Rs 10,000 crore of investment.The MWC will include Special Economic Zone along with residential complexes, retail complexes, and hospitality facilities.
