Thomas Cook to Sell its Properties in India

thomas-cookOne of the world’s biggest tours and travels agency, Thomas Cook has put on its commercial properties for sale. This is a big move by Thomas Cook with an aim to improve funding of the company. Thomas Cook (India) Ltd (TCIL) owns 32 properties in India summing up to 1,26,000 sq ft of office space. The biggest of its properties can be located in Mumbai and Delhi with 60,000 sq ft and 43,000 sq ft spaces respectively. The deal is an outcome of Institutional Placement Programme (IPP).Looking at the locations of the properties belonged to Thomas cook and analyzing the price of office space in metros like Mumbai (between Rs 21,000 and Rs 30,000 per sq foot), Hyderabad (Rs 5,500-6,000 per sq foot), Pune (Rs 4,750-5,000), Kolkata (around Rs 18,000 per sq foot) and Delhi (around Rs 31,500), the cost of property in only in south Mumbai will go up to Rs 250 crore.The company is experiencing a financial crunch from last year and selling the properties would boost the funds to a large extent.
