Pune: Strike of retailers and suppliers against the local body tax (LBT) has shaken almost every market in the city. Same is the case for the real estate, shortage of materials has delayed the realty projects in the city. Supplies of materials have been affected as all raw material suppliers have been shut down due to pressure from the associations involved in the strike. The shortage of material supplies is leading to the delay in the delivery schedules of many under construction projects in the city.The shortage of supplies has been observed in the supplies of brick, cement, plywood, laminate, marble and tiles along with small supplies like hinges, nails and adhesive etc. The supplies is not the only reason behind the delay of the projects, another reason is the shortage of the workers, fabricators, carpenters, electricians and plumbers as many of them have left for their hometowns.Developers, builders, architects and interior designers have been complaining about the shortage of supplies as many of their projects have been stopped and the delivery dates of the projects have now been shifted further by one or two weeks.Many developers have procured some of the supplies like brick and steel before the strike, but they are running out of stock and also facing a shortage of the small supplies like glass, plywood, nuts and bolts. Interior designers with many ongoing projects are in fear that their client might levy a late delivery charges on them.Whereas the associations participating in the strike have said that they are ready to pay the LBT but they wouldn’t be able to keep every single written record of the big or small transactions.
