Construction Business in Nashik is Scarce of Sand

nashikNashik: The construction industry in Nashik is experiencing difficulty because of scarcity of sand. Till now no bidder has been come forward for 51 sand blocks to be auctioned. The auction is open from August 1 to July 31 every year but due to scanty bidding, the auction date is stretched till September end. The officer from the district authority told that till now no response has been received from any of the contractor in the city. The sand excavation time is also nearing as monsoon is coming in few days, signaling another trouble.The builders association while elaborating the stressed condition exposed that the price of raw materials especially sand is elevated making it hard to continue the construction. The only way left is to increase the property prices. The prices of sand and macadam have been increased by more than 50% and most of sand in the city is getting transported from Ahmednagar district.This raw material situation is summing up to increase the price of houses. Looking the current price trend which depicts a rising line, houses that were priced between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,500 per sq ft seven years ago, now cost Rs 2,700 to Rs 6,000 per sq ft.
