Sahara Purchased 25 Acre Commercial Land in Bangalore

saharaBangalore: Sahara Group has purchased a 25 acre plot in Bangalore for Rs 149 crore. The acquired plot was originally owned by the television and white goods maker BPL and the transaction costing Rs 140 crore was carried out through Asset Reconstruction Company of India (Arcil).Asset Reconstruction Company of India (Arcil) has acquired the plot from BPL under the SARFAESI Act as the BPL was unable to pay their debt payment taken from banks. The land was the property of BPL’s two sub-companies and these companies are BS appliances and BS refrigerators. BPL was short on their debts for many years which lead to the loss of the land in Bangalore.Sahara confirming the deal said that the plot has been acquired by the company through Arcil and till now we have paid the amount of Rs 100 crore for the transaction. The land is situated in Bangalore’s information technology hub Whitefield and it can only be used for the commercial purposes.The land was owned by the companies BS Appliances and BS Refrigerator is said to be of Rs 39 crore and Rs 55 crore respectively. The dues on the land are estimated to be around Rs 49.37 crore which will be payable to the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board. The land buying company has to pay the complete amount to own the land.Recently Sahara Group of company’s arms Sahara India Real Estate Corp and Sahara Housing Investment Corp were in new due to the charges Sebi placed on them for illegal fund raising. Sahara did not confirm any development plans for the land.
