Bangalore: When you pay your bills through the internet it is supposed to save you time and energy. When Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) introduced the e-payment system for property taxes it did so with the good intension of lessening the burden of property tax payers who would not have to wait in long queues anymore. Though the system was successfully initiated in some of the neighborhoods of Bangalore many parts of the city are still suffering from the lack of access to payment of property taxes online.Statistics show that over 50,000 people in Bangalore are unable to access online payment of property tax. This is basically because BBMP had been unable to enroll the tax payers of the areas. The officers had been busy with election works and had failed to provide 50,000 people with PIDs. Among the suffering areas there are the residents of Dodda Bommasandra, Vidyaranyapura and Byatarayanapura. They are still paying the taxes directly at the BBMP office.The 2013-14 collection of property taxes has already started and hence the officials are striving to enroll all residents. Some people are however comfortable with paying the taxes manually at the BBMP office.
