Property Tax Complaints to Be Heard By BMC within 21days

prop-taxMumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has appointed ward inspectors after there had been a number of allegations of flawed calculations of capital value based property tax. Hearings will be conducted and redressals will be provided and the process should be commenced in 10 days. The number of complaints received by the BMC amounted to 42,000.Each ward has been divided into 14 to 30 divisions, depending on the size of the ward. Each division will consist of 300 to 400 properties. One ward will consist of one ward officer who will look into the complaints of each ward. The cases will then be forwarded by him to the collector who is the designated investigating officer and the assistant assessor who will then scrutinize the case to decide if the case merits investigation. Of the 42,000 complaints received only 27,000 cases will be heard. The rest 13,000 complaints question the basis of the capital-value based system and the policies made by BMC. Hence the corporation will not hear these complaints. .”We are trying to minimize hearings as much as possible.” said additional municipal commissioner Rajiv Jalota.”So, if a property, has incorrect area marked, or a residential unit is shown as commercial, then it can be corrected. If there is error in the Annexure pointed out by the complainant, the ward inspector will scrutinize and the investigating officer will come to a conclusion and prepare the amended bill. But if there are any complaints on the provisions of the MMC Act and if there are objections to the rules approved by the standing committee, the investigation officer will have no jurisdiction to change that. These complainants will not be called for hearings,” said an official.A civic official said that the complainant can move court if the issue is not addressed within 21 days of the passing of the order by the investigating officer. займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
