Upper Time Limit for Plot Construction Alleviated by HUDA

constructionChandigarh: Upper time limit for completing the minimum construction is taken away by Hariyana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for plots; may it be residential or commercial. HUDA officials declared that there will not be any upper limit on the time within which the minimum construction should be completed. Previously the time limit given to allottees was of 2 years within which they had to complete the minimum construction.Although there will not be any time limit on the construction time, after 12 years further time extension will be given on payment of extension fee at double the rates of the preceding year. The plots with sizes less than 100 square meters will have the same rates as per the 12th year. There may be changes in this depending on HUDA’s decisions. The refund for the extension fee will remain as it is for women and widows whereas only 50% rebate is given for plots of defense personnel. The existing allottee will also be applicable for this change in the extension rates. Commercial sites will have to pay the extension fee two times or three times that of residential plots, depending on the floors of the building. In another case, Hariyana Rural Development Authority granted the increase in the construction of houses under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY). The Hariyana government has constructed around 7,349 houses till now and has spent Rs 46.61 crores in the past year and 10,103 houses are under construction. The grant for IAY houses was increased by Rs. 25000 in plain areas and Rs. 26500 in hilly areas. Until now 4,328 houses were constructed for the scheduled castes and 957 houses were for minorities.
