Record Revenue Generated in Building Permissions

pune-buildingsPune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has collected a record amount of Rs 631 crores by delivering building permissions in the financial year 2012-13. It’s the fees, corporation attains by the builders by giving the permission for construction and development. The number of building units has been declined since last year from 4,623 units to 4,440; however the revenue rose from Rs 604 crores to Rs 631 crores. This heavy figure is generated due to the revision in the rates in granting building permissions.The charges are taken for the construction and development, compounding fees, FSI, balcony premium and other fees.The head of building permissions department said that they have aimed a figure of Rs 600 crores, looking the current scenario of downfall in the number of dwelling units. However they are happy as they have achieved much more than that. The department added that many factors have contributed towards this heavy collection; one of them being the visa system that speed up the sanctioning process.It is easily visible that the number of housing units has been deteriorated. The area of construction has fallen from 74 lakh sq m to 66 lakh sq m.
