Old Age Homes for Indians by US based Group

old-age-homeChennai: Coimbatore based Covai Properties have decided to form a joint venture with US-based Signature senior Living to build Old age homes in India. The improved living styles and failure of joint families is turning Indian people to opt for old age home though it is conflicting with traditional values.As per the tradition Indians consider that it is their children’s duty to take care of them. Whereas the seniors and retired people from US and west countries look forward to move to the old age homes to get peace and quiet time. Indian culture is somewhat tilting towards the west as majority of youths are scattered from their parents due to the employment and some other reasons. Most of these people are thinking of old age home.Signature is investing $ 2.5 million to build 50 units of old-age care facilities in Chennai. The occupation of these facilities will start at the end of 2013. After surveying the conditions in the country National Health Investors (NHI), real estate trust have decided to join Signature to invest $ 50 million in Serene, a joint venture will build homes in the cities across India like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Coimbatore.The Serene will adopt the techniques and methods used in America by signature group. Covai properties earns 90 crore a year from its existing senior housing projects.According to the survey the current housing for senior citizen is $ 25 Billion industry worldwide.
