Pune: Planning a development plan for an old city using science, technology and resources of present time is challenging work. Municipal Corporation of Pune had prepared comprehensive plans for the development over the time. New development plan for the old city areas will be published today by Pune Municipal Corporation; meanwhile the Draft of DP was already approved by the general body for the old city areas in mid January this year.A 20-year development plan from year 2007 to 2027 was already accepted by the City Improvement Committee (CIC) in the October 2012. The DP has furnishes special clauses like expansion of main roads, metro rail project, improving transportation facilities, schemes of housing for the needy and development of uninhabitable ‘Wada’ constructions etc.Previous DP which was drafted in 1982 had the plans for development of the old city areas and later on it was passed in the year 1987. The plan was extended for 10 extra years after its expiry in 1997 since only one fifth of the plan work was carried out in actual years. Civic body had required another extension with deadline of December 2010 for a new DP. The administration dept. completed and submitted the Draft of new DP to city improvement committee in December 2011.The DP will be available for the citizens at the DP cell in Shivajinagar. They can read it from the Pune Corporations official website and also buy the copies from the DP cell at the Civic Headquarters, Shivajinagar. Citizens can give their suggestions and objections after studying the DP.
