India Ranks 20th in Real Estate Investments in the World

India-20New Delhi:India has ranked 20th among the top 20 real estate investing countries in the world. This has been found out by a study conducted by real estate consultants Cushman & Wakefield. The total real estate investment volume in India in 2012 had been $3.4 billion.China topped the list with investments of $304. 1 billion, US came second with investments of $267.1 billion, followed by U.K. with $56.3 billion investments in real estate. Though t he overall situation may seem gloomy but analysts said that since the real estate market reorganized and pulled itself together in last quarter of 2012, there is still hope for immense improvement. The global real estate investment market grew by 6% in 2012 to $929 billion. At this rate it is expected to cross $1 trillion mark within 2013. If this mark is reached then the world real estate market will reach new heights after it had slumped since 2007.India’s total real estate investment stood at Rs 19,000 crore by the end of 2012. 67% of the investments came through institutional sales while 33% were through private equity investments. During the last quarter of 2012 institutional sales dropped by 37% while private equity investments rose by 7%.Bangalore received the highest value of private equity investments at Rs.3,250 crore in 2012. In this list Bangalore is followed by Mumbai with Rs.1,300 crore.
