Shendra–Bidkin Industrial Park: A Dent of Industrialization in Maharashtra

Shendra-Bidkin-IPThe Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project is expected to cost around $10 billion. One can easily guess the magnitude of this extraordinarily project that is aspiring to leave its dent across six states in the country. It will be primarily a planned industrial zone that is planned to escalate the level of infrastructure. One of its part is being developed (with Japanese assistance) around Shendra – Bidkin belt in Aurangabad and that’s why it is called as “Shendra – Bidkin Industrial Park”. The SBIP is planned with great expectations to back the industrialization (esp. manufacturing units) which is a necessary factor in the improvement of gross domestic product.About ShendraAbout 17 Km from Aurangabad, MIDC (in 1990) had acquired more than 900 hectares of land to set up a five star industrial zone. Shendra village is now transmogrified into a high-tech area that caters to companies like Audi, Skoda, Wockhardt, Perkins etc.About BidkinBidkin is a big calm village in Aurangabad district with feeble development. But after the DMIC proposal for the SBIP, an acquisition of around 10,000 hectares of land is in process. The industrial park project is meant to develop the village and encourage employment and improve amenities.Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor ProjectWith major investor as Japan, the DMIC project will be spread across states: Delhi, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. From American planning to Japanese technology, the SBIP will be developed to the threshold to cater to cutting edge engineering and automobile firms. According to the government of India, the industrial park is set up on the lands which are declared infertile and waste. Seven National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZ) are also proposed to come complimentary with this project. The organization is creating a sense of negativity in the conscience of farmers for giving the lands away to the government and generating a strong emotion among the farmers, not to give land in any circumstance. However the government declared that most of the land is infertile and the owners are getting proper compensation.However housing sectors makes a happy face.
