By the mere mention of the name of Jaipur the images that come to mind are that of Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Amer Fort, Albert Hall etc. the city also harbors beautiful handicrafts in gold, silver, textile, pottery, carpets etc. a population of around 75 lakhs live in and around this city which spreads approximately over an area of 3,000 sq km.The general development of the city and its adjacent areas is looked after by the Jaipur development authority (JDA). Currently the JDA is working on its Masterplan 2025. The plan focuses mainly on solving the traffic problems faced by the city and proposes extensive connectivity under the bus rapid transit system (BRTS) and Metro railway network.There are various ongoing projects in Jaipur under the JDA. To mention a few:Underground parking project at Ramniwas Garden: For a city that attracts 27,000 cars and 64,000 two wheelers every day, parking can be a major problem. The 2 level underground parking space at Ramniwas Garden is aimed at solving this problem and in turn solve the traffic congestions caused road parking.Ghat Ki Guni Tunnel Project: Ghat-ki-guni is a place with heritage sites on both sides. But being the only entry/exit of eastern Jaipur the traffic is quite heavy and so is the pollution. To lessen the effects of pollution on heritage buildings a twin tube tunnel is being constructed ghat-ki-guni.Ring Road Project: A 144.75 km ring road is being constructed all around in Jaipur in three phases.Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS): A bus based transport system is the best option to solve traffic problems in the city. It would also help in curbing the increasing number of private vehicles. Therefore the JDA undertook a project of constructing two corridors, one running north-south and the other running east-west for rapid bus transportation. At present the north-south corridor is functional.Jawahar Circle Garden: The JDA is developing a Jawahar Circle Garden with an area of 9.81 hectares which will have various attractions like musical fountain, video screens, jogging tracks, kiosks etc.Flyover at Transport Nagar Chouranha: To ease the traffic problems at Transport Nagar Chouranha where the NH 8 and NH 11 enter Jaipur, the JDA is planning the construction of a 3 level grade separator.Some of the projects that the JDA will undertake in the near future are:International Convention Center and Golf Course: This is one of the most profitable projects of the JDA in the near future. The JDA has proposed to develop an International convention center and golf course to stimulate economic growth of the Dehmi Kalan area which is about 30 km outside the city. The project site is about 270 acres. Mahindra World City, Fortis Hospital and Manipal University are some of the projects that are supposed to come up in the area.Jaipur International Center: On an area of about 23,000 sq m at the campus of HCM RIPA (OTS) the JDA is planning an international center that will have facilities such as auditorium, conference room, lecture room, lawn, cafeteria and bedrooms.Amusement park with snow theme at Jawahar Circle: It is a project costing Rs 33.5 crore and work will be granted after the approval from Executive Committee of JDA.Extension of 22 godown ROB for decongestion of traffic at Shakar Circle: The 22 Godown circle is one the busiest traffic rotary in the Jaipur City. It carries traffics from roads of Bhawani Singh Road, Hawa Sadak, Sahakar Marg, Sardar Patel Marg and the VIP traffic coming from Civil lines area. Improvement of traffic by linking existing railway over bridge with road towards Bhawani Singh Marg will help in for decongestion of traffic at Shakar Circle.4 lane high level bridge on Amani Shah Ka Nallah: From Maharani Farm to Mansarovar, Shipra Path, Jaipur for help the local residents of Mansarovar scheme.Operation and maintenance of different community centers of the JDA: Operation and maintenance of 9 Community Centers has been proposed.Other initiatives by the JDA:Water Harvesting / Recycling Structures under Construction by JDA: Rajasthan is a dry state and water preservation is very important. The JDA is undertaking storm and roof top water harvesting projects to help the situation.Heritage conservation project: The JDA has undertaken the Project for development of Khole Ke Hanumanji,a Rs 27 crore project.Greening: The JDA has undertaken the task of constructing various ‘circles’, triangles, flyovers, railway over bridges etc. in a bid of making Jaipur more pollution free.E-services:Jaipur Development Authority provides “e-Services” through which one can avail the services of JDA.Services Online:
