Hyderabad: The construction of Metro rail in Hyderabad is picking up its speed and in a route to make it even quicker, the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is an urban planning agency that overlooks developments in Hyderabad) has folded up its sleeves and acquiring more properties than ever. This is helping in maintaining proper traffic and easing the movement of vehicles ahead of heavy on-going metro rail construction.Notices regarding acquisition have been issued to the owners/residents in high number. Around 47 properties in Punjagutta-Nirankari Bhavan road stretch and 79 properties on the Legislative Assembly Gandhi Bhavan road stretch have been alerted, mainly because the elevated metro line alignment final design has been fixed. With that a staggering 360 plus property owners on the Greenlands-Jubilee Hills road stretch have been notified about the acquisition.Land acquisition, demolitions and road widening are strictly ordered by the metro rail authorities and still more than 700 properties are yet to be acquired that includes government lands, municipal properties and private properties. The road widening project is to make it 100 ft but in some sections of the city it is being widened to 150-200 ft.Properties in Bharatnagar to Kukatpally and in between Nalgonda crossroads and Mahaboob Mansion are in complete danger. The authority is coming to take all. The development is always two faced, nobody can change it. On the bright side, metro rail will benefit thousands across the city but on the dark side, even if the compensation is paid, the acquisitions sometimes fall hard on the residents.
