BBMP Collects Rs 6 Crore Tax from Tech Parks And Mall

BBMPBangalore: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) might have set an example for municipality corporations of other cities on Wednesday when BBMP’s revenue inspectors along with members of the tax and finance standing committee walked into two tech parks and a mall near Whitefield and collected unpaid tax amounting to Rs 6 crore, on the spot. The self assessment scheme of paying taxes has proved bogus as many property owners cheat taxes by undervaluing the property. The owner of the mall had been showing the built up area of the mall as vacant and had been paying only a tax of 12 paise per sq ft for a 1.5 lakh sq ft of property. Estimates show that from the mall alone BBMP should have received a revenue of more than Rs. 1.5 crore. Even some of the shops within the mall can be charged of illegal occupancy as they have not acquired any occupancy certificate. All these illegal activities only came to the light as the BBMP, instead of beating around the bush, this time, directly entered the properties of tax defaulters and collected the money. The BBMP commissioner has announced that within March all of Bangalore’s high-value property tax defaulters will come under the BBMP scanner and soon all the dues of Rs 750 crore will be collected from four lakh property owners. займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
