Pune: Remember those blue coloured boards that spread awareness on the preservation of environment and proper use of water and electricity. Well we never know till what extent that affects the conscience of the citizens but the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has come up with a new idea to encourage the making of a sustainable ecosystem.According to the plan, all new buildings should be environment friendly which can be developed by following the principles of green building. In the next three-four years, the buildings that are destined to be completed must go through the regulations of eco friendly building. In a study, it has been found that in 2040, the population of the Pimpri chinchwad will be around 45 lakh i.e. 2.5 times the current population. So if we want our future generations to feel the nature like we do then we have to start taking measures to protect our environment. Also the corporation is implementing green initiatives for the dumping of debris. Now 70% of the total sewage in only treated, the rest however is dumped in rivers. To make it a centum, stringent regulations are on the way.Incentives are already given to the builders and buyers that follow and promote the construction of green buildings. It’s time that the myths must be destroyed which says that green buildings are costlier and harder to construct. It’s high time we’ve taken our environment seriously.
