Gurgaon: The Government of Haryana has finally come out with some piece of good news for its tax payers. In a notification, sent out earlier, tax defaulters who haven’t settled their tax dues for the past two years were given were asked to clear it by December 31, 2012. Reconsidering this announcement, the Government has decided to extend the deadline to June 30, 2013.A notice, informing about the changes in the deadline, has been sent to the concerned Departments and Authorities across the State. Apart from these, Municipal Corporations and its supporting councils have also been informed about the extension in the deadline. In accordance, property tax defaulters must write-off the tax dues before June end who have kept payments pending since 2008.The Municipal Commissioner had placed a request before the State Government asking for an extension in the deadlines since many of the property tax payers had refrained from paying owing to the differences in the method of calculation. Objections raised in this regard are yet to be settled at the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon which is taking every possible effort to recover the pending dues for the year 2008-09 and 2009-10.The MCG has been taking efforts to make property tax payment less tiresome by opening newer avenues of paying taxes.
