property-taxAhmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC’s) Tax department may have to toil away to attain its property tax target. The tax department out of the estimated income of Rs. 662 crore has acquired only Rs. 376 crore. Which means the department was able to accumulate only 57% of its targeted property tax amount within 9 months of financial period. The civic body workforce is dubious about the target accomplishment but the political department seem to be assured.According to a senior official of the tax department, the higher authorities are not serious about the property tax collection.  The employees think that lack of manpower and their sustained engagement is assembly election or other events from the past two months are one of the main causes of less property tax collection.Senior official added that previously the revenue department employees were not given any additional responsibilities. In fact extra manpower was pulled in for recovery of taxes.According to Sunil Shah, civic body’s revenue committee chairman, the sealing drive which usually begins in November- December, unfortunately couldn’t happen this year. The tax department failed to announce or advertise any schemes for the recovery of the taxes.Surprisingly the property tax of almost Rs. 480 crore has been unsettled from prior to year 2000. Shah adds that if they are able to recover at least 10 % of the pending amount, the target will be successfully accomplished. AMC is also concentrating on the advertisements to make the public aware of different schemes.Last year, by this time the AMC collected Rs. 357.44 crore in property, water and maintenance taxes whereas this year AMC earned Rs. 376 crore which is 5% more than last year. This year the property tax has also gone up to Rs. 70 crore and vehicle tax collection has risen to Rs 30.88 crore this financial year.займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
