Kolkata: Saugata Roy, member of chief minister’s advisory council for industry, has put forth a petition to the Chief Minister of West Bengal, demanding the ban on residential real estate development in the closed industrial units of West Bengal.Saugata Roy in an interactive session with MCC Chamber of Commerce & Industry members have suggested to make use of the land for industries rather than using the closed unit areas for residential development. He did not disclose the facts but have implied some alternatives in the report to seek attention of the IT companies who cannot obtain SEZ status.The chief minister, Mamta Banerjee is planning to meet the industry representatives to seek for their opinion related to the draft.The state was looking forward for an altered industrial policy to attract investment upholding no-land procurement for industry.Roy informed that after taking the propositions from seven industrial units, the report was prepared.
