Mumbai: In reaction to the demand for increment of FSI from the industrial sector outside the MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation), the chief minister of the state, Prithviraj Chavan positively nodded for looking forward to increase the FSI (Floor space Index) in those units.In a meeting with the industrialists and other businesspersons, an additional FSI of 0.5 is proposed by the minister. This figured is made for the industries grounded in MIDC limits. The similar FSI figure is projected for the industrial units standing outside MIDC.Also the civic body is having concerns for the land acquired for SEZs, as it’s unable to fruit because of lack of interest of industries to set up there. But there is a valid reason for this occurrence. Since the tax concessions had been withdrawn, industries are feebly interested in setting up their projects in the SEZ land.With that, increased attention in growing environmental issues will be taken care by the municipal bodies and a special policy will be made for the proper disposal of the industries.The new industrial policy will become effective on April 1, 2013. The same is always expected, better plans for industrial growth without forgetting the issues regarding the safeguarding of the environment.
