Easement

  • The right conferred to an individual to use another person’s property with his/her formal consent

Effective rent

  • The total or gross rent payable per month to the landlord

Effective Age

  • The actual standing age of a building assessed by an arbiter

EMI

  • Equated monthly installments

Encumbrance Certificate

  • A report issued by Registrar of Assurances or Sub-Registrar’s office after due verification of the relevant documents certifying that the property is free from legal hassles

Encroachment

  • The physical intrusion of a structure or improvement on the land of another

Equity

  • The market value of a asset after deducting outstanding debts and encumbrances

Escalation clause

  • A clause in the lease agreement which authorizes auto renewal of the lease period

Estate

  • A piece of land, property or real estate owned by an individual or an organization

Executor

  • An individual, addressed in the will, having the legal authority to administer a property
