Coles-parkBengaluru  city in Karnataka used to be lot greener than today as the development all around has eaten most of its greenery and the water bodies that were created in order to fulfil water needs in the area. It is quite unfortunate to see this transformation that led to the destruction of nature for the growth of city. But as compared to other big cities Bengaluru  still has some good part of city reserved for parks and nature but the need of the hour is to not let destroy our mother nature at any cost. As Bengaluru  has numerous gardens it is called the city of gardens. The pleasant climate which is now not that pleasant though and the geography of the city makes it the perfect city to live in. Up to some extent the city has retained its beauty of nature. The chain of gardens in the city makes it better place to accommodate with family. Some of the gardens are still in their original shape while some are being renovated and beautified over the years in order to make them more inviting and comfortable. Though there are many gardens in the city but Coles garden is special. Let me take you to the Coles Garden.First let me tell you how this park has got its name. This park has got its name from a resident of Mysore since 1914. It is located at Fraser Town on the Promenade Road in the Eastern part of Bengaluru . It is place to spend pleasant evenings in natural surroundings. For the residents in the surrounding areas it is a favourite place to relax, jog, walk and enjoy with kids. The Bandstand is quite an impressive attraction in park. Here the band of Bengaluru  Rifle Volunteers performs for the visitors. Currently the park is owned by the Municipal Corporation of Bengaluru  city. The Coles Park has been renovated in order to facilitate public.Apart from the band stand this park has beautiful lawns, jogging track, kids play area, etc. on the band stand benches are installed for sitting. The most important thing is that this one of the rare gardens that is disabled friendly. From the entry point you can see the difference. You can find the ramp at the entrance for differently abled people. The wheelchair track at the play area helps differently abled kids to move around properly. Apart from ramp and wheelchair track, a wheelchair sandpit and a sensory integration track are worth mentioning. The play equipments like swings are designed in such a way that it is easily used by the disabled kids. I personally feel that all major cities in the country should take inspiration from this park and must renovate or develop such parks for special kids. There are three tennis courts and a skating rink in the park. Various classes are held in the evening time while in the morning park is full of joggers, walkers, yoga enthusiasts. The laughter club members spread laughter in the air every morning in the park. Regular activities are organised by an NGO named Kilikili in the park with an aim to include and integrate the Differently abled children with other children. It serves as a pleasant place for all the mothers of differently abled kids as it meets the requirements for their kids to enjoy, play and mix with other kids.
