It comprises of many buildings, palaces, mosque, tombs, gardens, etc. representing fine Islamic architecture influenced by Persia, Hindu and Jain architectural features. <strong>Sarkhej Roza<\/strong> is a cluster of historic Islamic buildings in the village called Makraba which is just seven kilometers South West of Ahmedabad city in Gujarat.\u00a0 A famous architect of modern time Le Corbusier called the Sarkhej Roza mosque as Ahmadabad\u2019s Acropolis comparing it with Acropolis of Athens. This place is used to be the home of Sufi Saint Shaikh Ganj Baksh Khattu who was an influential Muslim leader. He only suggested to Sultan Ahmed Shah to create his capital near Sabarmati River.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9158\" title=\"Sarhhej-Roza2\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Sarhhej-Roza2.jpg\" width=\"304\" height=\"209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Sarhhej-Roza2.jpg 304w, https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Sarhhej-Roza2-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/>The <strong>Sarkhej Roza<\/strong> was actually built on a sprawling area of seventy two acres and most of the construction activities took place in the mid fifteenth century from 1451 to 1458 under the control of Sultan Qutubuddin Ahmed Shah II. Later on the finishing touches and minor changes took place when next Sultan Mehmud Begada came into power. He enhanced the beauty of the place by adding pleasure spaces by extending surroundings, created his own tomb across the Saint\u2019s tomb, beautified the tank and did other finishing touches to give the place a charming appearance. Initially there were beautiful gardens on all sides but during the course of time the area shrunk due to human settlements and gardens almost vanished into developments. Currently only thirty four acres are left with Sarkhej Roza instead of 72 acres.If you visit the place you have to agree that body and soul both are present in the monuments and creator has made timeless masterpieces. Here you explore grand palaces once the royal residences of Muslim emperors who founded the Ahmedabad city and ruled for centuries here. The monuments have a magnificent amalgamation of design and architecture of Muslim and Hindu culture and it is proved when you explore the ringed domes, pillars in the palaces, brackets, images, decoration, etc. One thing you can notice here is that most of the complexes here do not have any arches and support is given using stone piercing. It is the best example of Hindu craftsmanship and Muslim knowledge of geometry. The splendid mixture of different styles of architecture is worth viewing. It is also now served as a summer resort for royal families. Apart from Saint\u2019s tomb other tombs were also built here and new garden is also created. In the year 1584 new additions were done to the complex when Muzaffer III was being defeated by Akbar. In short this place witnesses many historical events from its inception.
