\"\"There are many places in Ahmedabad<\/a> to explore but if you looking for natural beauty here then I have the best place for you and no doubt you will feel wow when you explore the home of the magnificent flying species.\u00a0 The place is known as Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary which is located just 64 kilometres in the west of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. This Bird Sanctuary is one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the country while the largest wetlands bird sanctuary in the State of Gujarat. The Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary is mostly on wet lands because it has a large lake and shallow marshes. This huge lake is a natural lake having an area of about 123 km2. The tranquil and clean water of lake provides favourable environment for hundreds of migratory and domestic flying species. The migratory birds come mostly from Siberia every year.\u00a0 A spectacular variety of birds can be observed here.If you are a bird watcher then this place is a paradise for you as you cannot find such different species housing at one place. More than two hundred fifty (250) species of birds come here every year usually after monsoon till spring.\u00a0 Majorly the birds that come here includes flocks of flamingos, multiple variety of ducks, geese, rosy pelicans, White Strokes, Brahminy Ducks, Herons, etc.\u00a0 Apart from this migratory bird population you may be lucky to notice some mammalian species like wild ass and blackbuck. The lake is quite shallow at outer places to give a perfect place for some wading birds that look for shallow waters. The beautiful flamingos with pink beaks, slightly shaded wings and pinkish legs don\u2019t let you blink once. Watching the playful activities of these gorgeous birds in the calm water of lake is a kind of treat to our eyes. You can get the most pleasing experience of your life if you visit the tranquil lake in full moon nights. The reflection of the full moon seems playing on the slightly moving water of lake. For all these migratory and domestic birds the Nal Sarovar is like heaven on Earth. Rich flora and fauna surrounds the lake and makes the place more appealing to nature lovers.There are many small islands in this region. Some of them have holy shrines of goddess Hinglaj and Bhurekha and these ancient holy places are visited by villagers from surrounding villages yearly. It is totally a different experience to watch this delightful view of unbelievable variety of birds at one place. The best time to visit this bird sanctuary is from November to February when the Nal Sarovar becomes the home of millions of migratory birds. If you really want to catch the glimpse of flocks then reach the spot before the sun rises as that is time when birds wait to catch their food. The lake water is quite shallow (approximately 4 ft) and the boatmen are there to take you on this pleasurable journey of your life. They are quite friendly to help you the wetlands world better. The huge beautiful lake gives many chances to say wow at different spots. You can enjoy the best but simplest traditional Gujarati food on the small islets between the lake water. These islets are mostly populated by the migrated Bhrwad shepherds while the banks of lake are taken by Padhar people. They are famous for being the best in folkdance, arts and boating. You can enjoy this place in its fullest by hiring the country boats.There is an interactive interpretation centre is founded at a cost of Rs. 42 lakh in order to focus on various bird species and to know more about them. This centre is called \u201cAbhiruchi Kendra\u201d. This centre exhibits various facts about migratory birds like their travelling distance, origin place, cross section prototype of underwater life, etc. in short I can say it is an out of the world experience to visit such a vast home of migratory and indigenous birds at such a beautiful and huge wetlands.Ruchi Mahajan<\/p>\n
