Whenever we talk about Goa we imagine the fantastic spread of sandy beaches with sparkling water and dancing waves in full enthusiasm but Goa\u2019s serene beaches are not the only treasure that it possesses but there are some other interesting factors too. Apart from inviting beaches you can also find here all around lush greenery, small quiet hamlets, beautiful churches and historical monuments. Thus you can call Goa top tourist destinations in the country. In this article I am going to tell you about one of the historical attraction in the state known as Allorna Fort<\/strong>. It is one of many historic heritages in Goa still standing to take you back in time of history to tell the events of past along with giving you an opportunity to explore the serenity of Goa from here. Though the fort is not in a very good condition but it is still worth visiting.The Alorna fort is a famous site in Goa situated in Alorna which is a small village just 30 kilometers from a town Mapusa. Village Alorna comes under the taluka Pernem. The NH 17 is just ten kilometers from Alorna village.\u00a0 If you have landed in the capital city of Goa that is Panaji\u00a0 then also you can easily reach fort Alorna by hiring a car taxi or bus because it is not very far from here either. You need to travel only 31 kilometers to reach Alorna from Panaji. Thus the location is easy to find and reach from different places.This fort is more than two centuries old as it was being constructed during sometime in the seventeenth century by the Bhoonsles from Sawantwadi but in a series of events it was captured by different rulers in a short span of time.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The first invader was Marquis from Castello Novo. He\u00a0 captured the Alorna fort in the year 1746 and he got a new recognition as Bhonsles called him Marquis of Alorna. But his victory over the Alorna Fort short lived because Dom Frederico Guilherme De Souza who was a Portuguese attacked on the Fort Alorna in order to take it into his possession. He captured the fort in the year 1781.\u00a0 Portugueses took advantage of the location of this fort especially to protect themselves from Marathas invasions that had become a threat for them from North direction.Currently the Alorna fort is almost in ruins witnessing the various invasions it had to face in the past. Previously it had four barracks (garrisons) but today only two of them are remaining. These barracks does tell us how the defense system worked at that time. You do get magnificent views of beauty of Goa and its lush greenery from here. The Chapora river banks enhance the beauty of the place as the Alorna fort is situated on the banks of this quiet river.Accommodation<\/strong>When you are in Goa you no need to worry about Accommodation as uncountable hotels of various standards you can easily find because Goa is a renowned tourist spot to give you the world class comfort and services. The nearest town of Mapusa is great to stay as the location of fort is very near from there.
