According to the real estate development council, NAREDCO, the state should consider to develop some projects on the basis of Public- Private Partnership (PPP) model in order to achieve the central government\u2019s target by 2022.Till now the contribution of Maharashtra government for this scheme is just less than 5 %. However, according to the national president of NAREDCO, if the state undertakes PPP model for developing few projects then the process can speed up.According to this industrial body\u2019s president, instead of charging premium to collect the revenue, the state can use the large government-owned land parcels to develop the projects under PPP model.As per the report presented by KPMG, presently the state is running short of 19 lakh residential units and the count will rise by 31 lakh till the year 2022. It is necessary for the state government to regularize the ready reckoner rates and also the stamp duty.According to the other sources, in order to meet the target of housing for all, it is also necessary for the government to speed up execution of policy reforms which includes simplifying the process of approval, improve utility infrastructure and transport, increase FSI, expand satellite cities for more development and redevelop the existing cities, particularly in Mumbai.
