The owners of these lands will not be required to take permission beforehand from the collector for the conversion of the plots that is allocated for residential townships and industrial project in region\u2019s development plan.Since the permission of collector was compulsory till now, the number of complaints against corruption and unnecessary delays, increased. However, according to the officials, the current move would cut down both.The move would be beneficial to the councils and municipal corporations of Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/navi-mumbai-an-ever-growing-township\/\">Navi Mumbai<\/a>, Panvel, Ambernath, Vasai-Virar, Kulgaon-Badlapur, Nalasopara, Alibaug and other such localities.Once the Municipal Corporations and councils agree, the land owners may have to just inform the collector within 30 days of time. Permission of the collector is not necessary.The latest process will be relevant to the people who are direct owners of the agricultural lands. Collector\u2019s permission will still be necessary for the people who have leased the land for the government. However, the conversion procedure will be made easier for them.\u00a0 According to the official, the leaseholders of such plots have to offer certain percentage of their profit gained from land transaction to the government.As per the sources, number of applications for agricultural land conversion to non-agricultural land is still pending in Mumbai and its nearby regions which eventually are affecting the development.
