The authority will be carrying out this drive in areas like Civil Lines, City, SP zones and Rohini.According to the sources the drive was stopped for general elections as the politicians had directed to put on hold the demolition action. Around 52 properties in locations like Sadar Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Paschim Vihar, Pitampura, Daryaganj and Paharganj were razed by the municipal corporation.One of the municipal officials said that the corporation is undertaking such a move to stop the growth of illegal constructions and encourage building construction with approval plans. Building departments of the respective zones with the help of police carried out demolition and sealing process.Around 7 illegal properties in Rohini faced hammer, 18 properties in City zone went under bulldozers while an array of properties in Paschim Vihar were also destructed. Illegal construction has been taking place in several parts of Delhi; therefore the municipal corporation has taken this strict action to control the growing number of unauthorized constructions.According to an official, their team has demolished many illegal structures and the drive is likely to intensify in near future.The civic body had stopped the drive since February due to the election. Before this, the corporation had served around 200 notices to areas in North and City Zone.The official further said that the fraudulent builders get their building plans sanctioned as residential properties and use it for commercial purposes at a much cheaper rate.
