The structure of the United Overseas Bank of Bangkok is far more intriguing comprising high-tech postmodern architecture which has been conceptualized to reflect computerization of banking with design completely against the neoclassical standard.The structure is commonly known as \u201cthe robot building\u201d due to its silhouettes resembling a toy robot from any child\u2019s toy collection. The whole edifice is structured by Sumet Jumsai reflecting the computerization and modernization of banking during its inception period, the structure came to life in 1986 as the Bank of Asia\u2019s headquarter. The concept behind the structure was to reflect internal changes in the bank on the external appearance and to make an exception to traditional banking structures and bringing something extraordinary on the skyline made it possible for Robot shaped building like a character coming out to life from Power Rangers.Architectural origin<\/b>The structured edifice was a result of postmodern architecture which dismissed the classical structural ideas and brought a new sense to the building development. Created as a giant machine structure absorbing various building blocks forming a robotic image, the building was considered as the milestone in the structural world for creating an unusual shape. The structure spans over 23, 506 square meters area having overall 20 stories while the structure gradually decrease in its shape with increasing floor numbers making it form a robot structure. Reminiscent of the exterior of the structure, interior also reflect a slight resemblance to the robotic atmosphere. Upper level floors are forms in a way that they will exhibit resemblance of robot face with two big windows acting as the robot eyes. The well structured architecture and well designed exterior definitely brings out the childlike excitement, and certainly you start imagining as your robot toy from the collection.The buildings internal area is functional like any other commercial building, but due to its exterior it has attracted thousands of tourists to the city catching the glimpse of the structure. The structure has become an astounding feature of the Bangkok\u2019s skyline; certainly it leads the way with its unusual structure of huge robot.The building\u2019s features are appropriately used by the creators to create robotic appearance coupled with practical functioning inside the building. Retreating wall structure, eye windows and antennas etc surely contribute in the characteristics of the structure to create its resemblance as a big robot like the cartoon character from a TV series.The structure has become renowned with its design acquiring huge acclamation from the international structural experts and critics. The structure is one of the most prominent building structures of Bangkok featuring ultra modern architecture and design.
