The Seattle Central Library got a nod for its construction of the 11-level building at 1000 Fourth Avenue in downtown Seattle, Washington. Seattle Central Library sports a contemporary look with innovative design and structure.The huge structure of the Seattle Central Library was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas along with Seatleite Joshua Ramus which worked closely with the library\u2019s board during its development phase. THe whole structure of the library sprawls to 362,987 square feet, with an additional 49000 square feet of underground parking space. The design of the library structure was created keeping in mind the future growth of the library which at large can house 1.45 million books and materials. The location of the structure is situated at the central city location hence it had various limits and bounds for the construction due to which is the result of pushing structural edges to stay within the height and setback restriction of the city. The structure was never been designed to make an attempt to create a form, but the library significantly turned out to be sculptural.<b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/seattle-central-library-book-spiral.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27451\" alt=\"seattle-central-library\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/seattle-central-library-book-spiral.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>Design and architecture<\/b>The library possesses a unique, striking appearance which consists of several discrete floating flatforms ostensibly wrapped together in a large steel net with a glass casing. The library is an extensive example of contemporary architectural design created to establish certain variation in the structure to make it flexible, spatial, and fully equipped structure housing millions of books, artifacts and materials. The complete structure seems like stacked and overlapping platforms forming a several stations and rooms for the library workings. Each platform from the building\u2019s structure is a programmatic cluster which is architecturally defined and equipped for the maximum performance having unique purpose, size, flexibility and structure.The complete structure has an unusual shape from the outside, but the structure was designed with the idea of not imposing any structure to the building but to shape it according to the required functions of the library.<b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/seattle-central-library-inside.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27452\" alt=\"seattle-central-library-inside\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/seattle-central-library-inside.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>Inside the structure<\/b>The interior of the building is much more forward and modern that it\u2019s exterior, as designer concentrated more within the structure than shaping it from the outside. The 11-storey structure is just a stacked platforms forming odd shape but making its interior spacious, and flexibility for inside use and accessibility.When a visitor enters into a library, there is a vast living room which offers visitors a place to relax, socialize, read and connect to the wireless Internet. And then straight ahead you will find areas having reading rooms and open areas for computer work stations. The structure\u2019s pedestrian route, stairs, ramps and escalators are sequenced to form a Dewey Decimal System.Library\u2019s main section where the whole collection of books are stacked housing all sort of collections forms a spiral structure. The book collection spirals up through four stories stored on a continuous series of shelves.The structure also houses Microsoft auditorium on the ground floor, Charles Simonyi Mixing Chamber and reading room on the tenth floor along with various features and function divided on various levels.The outer structure of the library building forms a huge cluster of steel and glass, making a huge impression on the skyline of Seattle city. The Seattle Central Library is an odd structural gem situated on Seattle\u2019s skyline which has been famous for its structural design and a large collection of books since its inception.<span
