These slum housing projects has been sanctioned Rs 21.50 crore from the union ministry which will be developed under Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY).Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will immediately start the process of construction. The two slums which will be developed are Mandap Basti and Munda Sahi situated near Chandarsekharpur. The central sanctioning and monitoring committee (CSMC) on RAY approved the proposal for the funding of the slum developments. The tenders regarding the construction work for the projects will be issued by the authorities.The BMC has already started the work of Rangamatia RAY project which will be developed by spending about Rs 45 crore. The Rangamatia project houses three slums clusters whose work is under progress. These three slum clusters are Dasraj Basti, Patra Sahi and Mancheswar Munda Sahi. The BMC will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National building Construction Corporation (NBCC) for the construction of the houses.A recent survey stated that the city houses about 426 slums and about 70,000 households were identified to be provided under the RAY. The civic body assigned a Hyderabad based company which will do the demarcation of slum areas as per Geographic Information System (GIS) survey. The demarcation pillars will be put up by the company for the areas where RAY houses are meant to be constructed.The satellite imagery of the slums and socio-economic survey will be integrated by the authority which will include collating data of individual slum dwellers.
