A 105 storey hotel was started the construction in 1987 with an aim of completing it by 1989, it still is in its making process. The most delayed structure in the North Korea stands out of order in the skyline of Pyongyang city with a height of 1083 feet. The construction of the structure was stopped in 1992 due to the economic crisis in North Korea which later resumed in 2008 and is predicted to complete by the end of the 2013.The plan of creating a large hotel was made to overpower the completion of the world’s tallest hotel in Singapore during the cold war times between North Korea and South Korea. The plan was to attract the western investors into the marketplace of the city and overpower the South Korean government. The height of the hotel makes it the most prominent structure on the Pyongyang’s skyline. The government of North Korea has scheduled the completion of the Hotel for the 13th World Festival of Youth in June 1989.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-24326\" alt=\"ryugyong-hotel\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/ryugyong-hotel.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Architecture<\/b>The building of the hotel consist three different wings each measuring 100 meters long, and 18 meters wide with a 75 degree sloped angle forming a pinnacle at a common point. The middle portion of the structure is topped by a truncated cone which is 40 meters wide which will consist eight rotating floors and topped by a further six static floors. The hotel was initially designed to house 3000 rooms, 7 restaurants, casinos, nightclubs etc.In late 2008, when the construction of the structure restarted, Orascom group started working on the project. The company has put glass panels into the concrete shell along with telecommunication antennas. The estimated cost of the project would be $ 2 billion with up and running structure. The Dubai based Emmar Properties also had showed their interest in constructing the structure; it is associated with the well known tallest building, Burj Dubai. In July 2011, the exterior work of the structure was completed where Orascom has installed exterior glass panels. The interior structure of the building is still under the mystery, various photographs were released shoeing the interiors of the structure.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-24327\" alt=\"Ryugyong-hotel-skyline\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Ryugyong-hotel-skyline.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>The hotel’s construction was halted for about 16 years, but the financial crisis made it wait longer for the completion. The international media dubbed the hotel as the “Hotel of Doom” and the “World’s Worst Building”. The construction of the Ryugyong Hotel is almost completed and is predicted to be operational by the end of the 2013. Hotel’s exteriors are amazing made up of glass shells fixed in the concrete givens an outstanding rise in the skyline of the city with its sky-touching height. The hotel’s structure will make an outstanding impact on the North Korea’s tourism sector and it is predicted to be the major tourist attraction in the North Korea.
