Yes, a very unique, full of information and special museum displaying the rich heritage of Indian currency. You may not seem interested at first but if you are in the area where the museum is located, just drop in to explore this wonderful box of knowledge. I am sure it will make you praise the place. After exploring this museum you would love to recommend it to your family, friends and others. This museum is known as Monetary Museum and it is founded and managed by Reserve Bank of India in order to protect and preserve the rich history of currency of our country. The Monetary Museum is situated at the Ground floor of Amar Building opposite to Apna Bazaar on Sir Pherozesha Mehta Marg in Fort Area in Mumbai. The museum is also known as Reserve Bank of India Monetary Museum.If you are curious to know about the evolution of currency or a finance student, there is no better place for you to go than this museum. It will solve all your queries related to currency. Though the museum is very small but it is very well presented and contains loads of information to satisfy all your questions connected to monetary system from ancient period till today. The museum takes you on to an enthralling journey of Indian coinage to modern monetary system. It exhibits the first coins of 600 BC till the paper money of today. The impact of Indo-European system on the money is also seen through the display of currency here. Currency used by Tipu Sultan, 8mm diameter coin known as Fanam, rare old coins and the tiniest coin of world are also on display here. This one of its kind museum on monetary history of India is doing a great job to spread knowledge and awareness about the evolution of currency since 2004.The museum has six different sections for better understanding of the money concept:<strong>1. Concepts, curiosity and idea of money<\/strong>\u2022 Definition of money\u2022 Evolution of money\u2022 Barter system\u2022 Exhibits commodity money (cowry shells, axes, silver bar money, knife money, beads, stones, etc.)<strong>2. Indian coinage<\/strong>\u2022 Exhibits coins from 4th century BC till 1947<strong>3. This section has a wide display of coins to bank notes.<\/strong><strong>4. Indian paper money (coins to bank notes)<\/strong>\u2022 Promissory Notes\u2022 Cheques\u2022 Bills of exchange\u2022 Hundies\u2022 Bank notes\u2022 Notes of Bank of Bengal, Bank of Bombay, British India Notes, etc.<strong>5. Know your currency<\/strong>\u2022 Currency management system in India today\u2022 Mahatma Gandhi series of Notes<strong>6.
