The flats to be allotted to the beneficiaries are complete and a meeting on Friday focused mainly on allotting the low cost housing. The meeting was chaired by lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung. The flats are to be allotted to eligible beneficiaries in the JJ cluster and the process of identifying these beneficiaries will start in a month. The matter is however being held up due to the authority&#8217;s pending decision about fixing the price of the flats and it is possible that they will cost more than EWS flats generally do.The flats will probably be priced at Rs 11 lakh each and this is more than EWS flats are supposed to cost. The DDA did not follow the Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojana (RAY) criteria while building the flats. Therefore the financing of the flats will not fit with the RAY created houses. The flats are to be allocated as general housing. So the DDA did not approach the Ministry Of Housing And Urban Poverty Alleviation. When the beneficiaries will move to the new flats the land abandoned by them will be reclaimed by the DDA and will be used for future residential and commercial use.Some clusters of slums located at Vikaspuri have been surveyed for beneficiaries. There are 2,400 1BHK flats that are ready for allotment in Dwarka. These flats are mostly factory made, that is, pre-fabricated technology has been used to make the beams, slabs, columns and staircases in factories. Then these parts are brought to the sight of construction and assembled. The pre-fabricated technology has been used previously in Maharashtra to build flats. Each of these flats will have a lobby, one kitchen, one bathroom and one bedroom.
