Low- Income Groups need 15 million homes that are priced below 4 to 5 lakhs which in turn would provide huge opportunity of a massive Rs. 9 lakh crore to the real estate developers. The increased demand for affordable homes would certainly benefit the real estate market.Private developers had launched approximately 30,500 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/blog\/future-of-affordable-housing-in-indian-real-estate\/\" target=\"_blank\">affordable housing<\/a> units which were priced below Rs. 10 lakh across 22 cities during June 2011 to January 2013. Large number of urban population in our country who earn monthly around Rs. 10,000 to Rs 25,000 can afford residences that costs around Rs. 4 to 10 lakh without any government help.According to the State of the Low-Income Housing Market established by Secretary of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, there is vast gap between the demand and supply of low cost homes. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bharatestates.com\/india\/top-builders\" target=\"_blank\">real estate developers<\/a> as well as the housing finance institutions have a great opportunity as there is estimated demand for almost 15 million housing units. Housing finance companies which were not available for the low income groups 5 years back are now offering loan to this segment. \u00a0About 10 finance companies are ready to lend fund to the low income groups.The report further added that Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Indore are the major cities that have launched over 20 projects each which offer housing units below Rs. 10 lakh. States such as Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and western and central parts of Gujarat are supplying maximum affordable homes than other states. Gujarat has witnessed maximum number of launches between June 2011 to January 2013 followed by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
