\"china\"China is a country that has evolved so fast from being one of the poorest countries in the world to one of the most advanced countries that it has made everyone’s head spin. China right now is posing a threat to most powerful economies as it has infiltrated the production markets everywhere. Looking around you, you will find that half the things surrounding you discreetly announce ‘Made in China’.A country that makes so much for countries around the world has just made another headline by constructing the world’s largest building (measured by floor space) by replacing the Dubai International Airport. It is called the New Century Global Center. It will be an understatement to say that it is a mammoth structure as there is no telling how many mammoths this massive building could have contained. According to statistics the building can accommodate 20 Sydney Opera Houses or 3 Pentagons. It has a total area of 19 million sq ft.Located in the Tianfu New Area of Chengdu of the Sichuan Province the New Century Global Center is all set to become western China’s business capital. Basically the building is being described as a shopping mall but it is much more than that both structurally and purpose wise.From the outside the building is beautiful and resembles China’s unique architectural specialty, the wavy roof. The entire structure is made of glass and steel and stands opposite the Chengdu Contemporary Arts Center, another beautiful building in China designed by the world renowned architect Zaha Hadid.So far Chengdu has mostly been known for the Foxconn plant that produces Apple gizmos and unfortunately also for the city’s smog problems. But the New Century Global Center which had been unveiled on 1st July 2013 is already the city’s new landmark.Stepping inside the building one will be easily transformed into another world. The building houses numerous retail outlets with nearly 4,300,000 sq ft of space being devoted to shopping. Besides these there are two 1,000 roomed 5 star hotels, two commercial centers, a university complex, offices, conference rooms, a skating rink, a fake Mediterranean village, a pirate ship, a 14 screen movie theater and a water park called Paradise Island which can accommodate at least 6,000 people at once. The list does not end here. Unbelievably the building also has a 54,000 sq ft artificial beach and a giant 490×130 ft screen that functions as the horizon and shows the sunrise and sunset. But possibly the most unique feature of the building is its artificial sun. The sun gives off light 24 hours a day and maintains a comfortable temperature within the building.The main pool of the building will have a stage that will extend over the pool for concerts to be held on. A stand overlooking the pool will have the food court. In a word the New Century Global Center is an engineering marvel that is designed to please the senses.The massive building took the frantically progressing Chinese only three years to develop. The building is so large that it is roughly the same size as Monaco.
